Project: Ballywilliam Culvert Replacements
Client: Wexford County Council
Location: Ballywilliam, Co. Wexford
Brief Overview:
The aim of this project was to demolish the two existing concrete pipe culverts and install two new reinforced concrete box culverts in Ballywilliam, Co. Wexford.
Key Elements:
- PSCS role for the duration of the works.
- Extensive site clearance including tree felling and removal of vegetation
- Water management including damming of a live river and over-pumping for duration of works
- Phased traffic management design and implementation in an urban area
- Management and temporary diversion of existing services including telecommunications and water
- Earthworks/excavations, including excavation in the existing carriageway and adjacent to watercourse
- Demolition of existing reinforced concrete piped culverts
- Installation of precast concrete culverts, wingwalls and headwalls
- Construction of in-situ reinforced concrete elements
- Installation of precast retaining structure
- Temporary works to ensure stability of structures
- Construction of footpaths, rubbing strips and installation of precast kerbs
- Masonry construction
- Resurfacing works and linemarking
- Landscaping works
